Century's Program for Four Year Olds

The four year old class curriculum continues to emphasize all aspects of the three year old program.

To prepare the child for kindergarten, the four year olds work on the alphabet recognition booklet adopted by the Bristol public school system and a number recognition booklet. They also take part in hands-on "Smart Starts" science experiments.

In addition, Century Nursery School is proud to be the first preschool within the state to participate in "Music Together Preschool", which is a nationally-recognized music and movement program. Music Together Preschool is taught by a trained Music Together instructor and presented to four year olds weekly.

Our four year olds also explore literature in a variety of ways, including our "Adventure Bear". Our bear "Andy" takes turns going home with the children for the weekend and introduces them to creative story writing that is shared with their classmates upon their return to school.

Students in the four year old program also benefit through visits from several in-house community-based professionals and participate in several out-of-school field trips during the year.

Graduation for four years olds is held in early June.
